Leistritz, a supplier of twin-screw extruders and turnkey extrusion lines, has announced that it will host the 12th annual Pharmaceutical Extrusion Seminar on June 7 and 8, 2017, in Clinton, NJ. In addition to melt extrusion, a special focus will be on multi-functional medical devices, reports the Germany-based company, which has its U.S. headquarters in Somerville, NJ.

The hands-on seminar will explain why twin-screw extrusion is a consistent, repeatable manufacturing method well suited for making medical devices and dosage forms. Classroom sessions held at the Holiday Inn in Clinton, NJ, will be supplemented with demos at the nearby Leistritz process laboratory. The demos include a co-extrusion system producing a multi-layer tube, a “nano” twin-screw extruder processing 50-gram batch samples and a film/lamination extrusion system for transdermal and dissolvable film applications.

The program also will include an on-the-fly screw design and assembly/disassembly session.

The two-day program is outlined below.
