Extrusion systems manufacturer Entek (Lebanon, OR) will showcase a pair of twin-screw extruders along with interactive work stations that facilitate screw layout design in booth W 5189 at NPE2018.

The company’s QC3 33-mm co-rotating twin-screw extruder—a size not previously offered by the company and being shown publicly for the first time—is designed for small-size lots of compounds and includes all of the company’s QC3—quick-change, quick-clean and quality control—features. It joins Entek’s other QC3 models, which include 27-, 43- and 53-mm co-rotating twin-screw extruders. The company also manufactures 73-, 103- and 133-mm models.

“The 27-mm twin-screw extruder is excellent for lab environments and our 43 mm is designed for small to medium-sized lots of compounds,” said Linda Campbell, Director of Sales. “We were getting a lot of requests from customers for something in-between, a machine specifically designed for small lots but with more output than the lab machine,” said Campbell.

Entek said that it worked closely with customers to identify specific needs and used lean principles to deliver a machine that provides important benefits to compounders.

New mechanical design features incorporated into the ENTEK QC3 33-mm extruder include:

The company also will feature its 73-mm twin-screw extruder for high-output custom compounding of bioresins, wood-plastic composites and large lots of color compounds. The machine is available with a 600-hp motor and screw speeds up to 900 rpm.

Two interactive work stations will be set up at the booth to demonstrate to visitors how easy it is to quickly design screw and barrel layouts for specific applications.
